The November selection for book discussion is My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok. The book's protagonist is Asher Lev, a Hasidic Jewish boy in New York City. Asher is a loner with artistic inclinations. His art, however, causes conflicts with his family and other members of his community. The book examines the conflict between tradition and individualism. The book is 370 pages. It is in print and also available electronically. The book was written in 1972  and has been taught at the middle and high school level.
